Graffiti on No. Main - Police need your help
Lt. David Schiavulli, District 8 Police Commander, had one quick answer when SNA volunteer Jessica Jenner asked him what people can do to combat crime in Summit today.
“Graffiti on North Main; we need citizen help,” the Lieutenant told Jessica, “Graffiti is generally created by juveniles, who may be active any time of the day or night. If you see someone with a spray can or fat marker, call the Police Department emergency number 272-1111. “
Barneys Bagels closes after nearly 20 years

Applying for Trees.
The Providence Neighborhood Planting Program is revamping their website. It looks like its still under construction but you can now download an application to apply for trees at their site.
Sidewalks selected for repair in Summit and Mt. Hope
Councilman Kevin Jackson said that he has selected 250 applications for sidewalk replacements in his Ward 3 district, using just under $1 million in funds put at the City Council’s disposal from a bond issue some years ago. Ward 3 includes the Mt. Hope and Summit neighborhoods. Read more
Old Hillside Health Center’s fate still in the air
An attorney for the receiver in charge of the bankrupt Hillside Health Center described inquiries from two housing developers interested in the former nursing home and assisted living buildings between Chace and Hillside Avenues. The Center has been empty since being shut down by the RI Health Department a year ago. Read more

City Forester promotes street tree inventory
March 9 -Doug Still, City Forester came to our Annual Meeting to describe the inventory of street trees his Department is doing this year and to ask for volunteers. He also encouraged groups of Summit neighbors to apply for free and low-cost trees through the Providence Neighborhood Planting Program. Read more

Thursday, March 9 - About 65 neighbors and guests from government filled the Community Room at Rochambeau Library on Thursday March 9 for Summit Neighborhood Association’s 2006 Annual Meeting. A Walgreen’s is almost certain to go up on the site of the former Sears Automotive store at the corner of Frost and North Main according to the city planner responsible for our neighborhood.
