[Summit] Less Toxic Landscaping Contest Awards Report

Dear Friend, 

As we were sending out our quarterly 
newsletter today, my husband pointed out,
to my embarrassment, that I had never sent 
a final report to our friends and supporters
about the outcome of the Less Toxic Landscaping 
Contest Awards! What happened was that I sent 
so many press releases to the media that I ran 
out of steam, then got sidetracked and forgot 
I hadn't sent it to you.  (A trip to California 
to see my grandkids and coming back to work on 
our first TIP membership mailing had something 
to do with it).

However, the info has actually been available 
all along - on our website. So, this link will

IMPORTANT REQUEST:  We don't have the resources to 
check out all the media to see what they picked up.
IF YOU SAW ANYTHING ABOUT THE LESS TOXIC LANDSCAPING 
CAMPAIGN OR CONTEST IN YOUR LOCAL PAPER, PLEASE LET 
US KNOW - AND SEND US A COPY OF THE ARTICLE IF POSSIBLE. 
Actually, that goes for anything you might see about 
TIP activities or campaigns.

To update things, though it was a great event, 
we have decided not to repeat the Contest in 2005,
nor the May Gardening Fair.  The reason is, simply, 
that we are a small organization and need to focus 
on only a few actions each year. You should have 
already received the mailing describing our exciting 
plans for work on "Canaries & Kids, Protecting the Most 
Vulnerable". The landscaping campaign component will 
now be focused on removing pesticides from playing 
fields, and producing the LTL Resource Guide for 
homeowners and gardeners.  We'll also be offering a 
speaker on organic gardening to garden clubs and 
other groups. 

This, along with our work with the RI Asthma Control 
Coalition, will be keeping us very busy. You'll still 
see us and our exhibit at environmental fairs,though.

We'll continue to keep you informed about our doings,
and let you know how you can help.
