[Summit] Groundwork Planters Stolen

Jennifer, I'm sorry to hear your planters were stolen. Those planters aren't
cheap either, never mind all the work setting them up...
I've had some trashed in the past, and Marysia's had two taken last year
from in front of her store on Hope Street.  Apparently they only wanted the
planters, so to add insult to injury, they upended the plants and dirt
across the door step. Some people apparently have never out grown their
"terrible twos."
I will try to stop by the Friday part of your Arbor Day event.

Do you give advice on good trees to plant?  The city had to take down the
dead and collapsing maple next to our house.  I asked them to replace it
with a birch, but they said the salt would kill it. It's true that in the
winter the plow comes around the corner from Hope with a huge pile of oily,
salty, busy-Hope-Street snow and dumps it pretty much right there. They
offered a different tree that I personally dislike. No thanks.
I "planted" a handy forsythia bush, mint and day lilies, but even the
forsythia isn't happy there...  What LIKES salt. Aren't there some nice
scrub pines you see planted by the sea shore?
I do like trees, as long as they don't get so big they block the sun for my
hot peppers!
