[Summit] chronic sidewalk snow OBSRUCTION

Hello,

I don't really think it is much of an excuse for not making other
arrangements, but I can understand that clearing the sidewalks can be
difficult for some people.

But for a business that is already paying a contractor to clear their
parking lots, to not also clear the sidewalks is more than rude.

AND the most obnoxious and illegal of all is the Mini Mall at the corner of
Burlington & Hope and the Eden Park Dry Cleaners on Hope near Fifth.  They
ALWAYS plow out their lots ONTO the sidewalk.  This year the Mini Mall
plowed part of one sidewalk, so the merchants can get to their dumpster, but
they also plowed the rest of this snow in a big pile blocking the sidewalk
at the corner for crossing the street.

Maybe we could have struggled through the unshoveled snow, but the plowed
mountains are too daunting for many of us. Forcing pedestrians onto busy
Hope Street, which is now made additionally hazardous because of being
narrowed by snow piles, is a public safety issue.

My citizen-of-the-neighborhood, polite attempts to convince them to change
their behavior, in past years, were rebuffed and dismissed on the several
occasions when I tried.  I was hoping they were merely refusing to admit
being wrong, but perhaps they would reconsider later.  In the past, the CVS
folks & headquarters also made a lot of pass-the-buck ecxuses, but I see
they did some what better this year (sidewalks mostly clear! but no paths
through the plowing to get to the street.)

I am not able to attend the Council Mtg tonight, so I am sending this.  Can
someone from the city please speak to these people???

I am trying to remember to NOT put my last name on my neighborhood postings.
I discovered by accident that anything with my full name comes up on search
engines when you search me.  I do not particular want to so easily invite
the whole world in to the problems of the East Side, and the opinions I
share with my neighbors.
