Dear Summit Neighbors,

Perhaps some of you can offer some ideas about
good local contacts for our RI landscaping and
gardening resource guide. See description below.
Note: I have left off the attachment because
of space limitations of this list. If you want
it, let me know and I'll send you one.

Thanks,

SUGGESTIONS WANTED FOR THE
“LESS TOXIC LANDSCAPING”
RESOURCE GUIDE 2007 SUPPLEMENT

We need assistance from folks who support our
goals of reducing the use of lawn chemicals,
encouraging healthy lawn care and creative
landscaping alternatives. Check this list
for ways you can help!

1. SUGGEST RESOURCES FOR INCLUSION IN THE LTL
DIRECTORY.
We seek contact information for organizations,
businesses and individuals in RI & nearby CT & MA
who can assist people with LTL information; organic
gardening supplies; lawn care and landscaping
services. If you use or know of a good resource,
let us know.

2. LIST YOUR BUSINESS IN THE “LESS TOXIC
LANDSCAPING” RESOURCE DIRECTORY 2007 SUPPLEMENT.
This unique guide is widely distributed to
gardeners and homeowners in Rhode Island and
adjacent locations. It is the ONLY comprehensive
source for finding organic supplies and services
in this area. If you currently offer ANY
services or products that qualify under our
“Less Toxic Landscaping” criteria, you may be
listed FREE.

3. SPREAD THE WORD. Encourage others to check
out our website and contact us with questions
and suggestions Disseminate LTL informational
materials and workshop publicity handouts.

ABOUT THE LTL RESOURCE DIRECTORY
The Less Toxic Landscaping Resource Directory was
published in February, 2006, and has proved itself
a valuable resource to gardeners and homeowners
in Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts and
Connecticut. The Supplement, including new
listings and corrections for 2007, will be
printed in time for distribution at the
Feb. 22-25 RI Flower & Garden Show.
FREE LISTING is available to qualifying,
“organic-friendly” businesses – those that
offer at least some organic supplies or
services, and encourage use of such.

It is not necessary to have a completely
organic business to participate. We are
interested in seeking out those who offer
at least some products and materials that
can be helpful to the Rhode Island gardener
or homeowner seeking to engage in healthier
methods of plant sustenance and pest management.
These can range from organic nursery stock
and seeds to plant food, to compost or manure...
Sources of nematodes, pest traps, diatomaceous
earth and other natural pest control are welcomed.

We are also hoping to encourage alternatives to
lawns such as natural landscaping options,
including native plant species that thrive more
readily, and features such as stone or brick paths,
statues, etc. Finally, we wish to highlight
resources where organic and natural alternatives
are fostered through visible displays of these
products, and knowledgeable personnel who will
encourage those who want to “go organic”, or at
least in that direction!.
