Meanwhile, Dubai is planning their floating city to top the sandbar city that they completed this last year.
Does this sound like they really need to increase prices?  Sure they do!  Those floating cities are expensive as heck!!

Another way to boycott is to carefully pick where to take vacations such that we are not condoning and reinforcing such extreme waste and decadence.
Unfortunately the very Europeans who complain about the gas prices are the very ones who go to Dubai for vacations.

We need to start car pooling and boycotting the pumps like the French do.

I try to avoid politics but I can't help smelling a scam here. To me, this one ranks with the flimsy Nigerian Internet Spam Artists-

There is NO EXCUSE for these gas prices. The sceptic in me sees the government (can't be Bush alone?) trying to buy us off with "free money"-  to sooth us with "rebates" of our own money, really, which, of course, increases the national debt. The same "magic thinking" that gets folks in trouble with credit cards. 
But the kicker is who REALLY gets the money- with the gas prices so cranked up, fuel at the pumps and transportation costs for our necessities such as food, will MORE that grab our whole rebates, AND, surprize!, pass them to Bush's friends, the oil barons.

We drove to NYC to visit some close friends for the end of Passover, despite the gas prices. The effect was VERY noticeable (besides on our wallets).  There was a MAJOR reduction in traffic; the proportion of SUVs to cars was down, but there were also much less personal vehicles all together. Of course this is subjective, but the difference was major; you couldn't help notice.  Even on a week day evening- the commercial traffic (trucks, work vans) was almost half the vehicles.  Coming back early in the morning, I drove through almost a whole hour on 95 without ever seeing anything but a dozen plus trucks going my way and only a couple cars the other way. We have often driven at that time, and usually pass at least as many cars/SUVS as trucks.
