Dear Neighbors,

This is a good reason to seriously continue talking about a "Crime Watch" in the neighborhood.  I am so sorry to hear about another break in.  It is a terribly invasive feeling.

Next Crime Watch organizational meeting is Monday July 14th at 6:30pm at The Miriam Hospital.
I had my house broken in to when I lived on Fifth Street a few years ago, and lost a lap top, jewelry, and a sense of safety that I always had living in Summit.  I believe in the effectiveness of a neighborhood based Crime Watch.

Please spread the word, I hate to think that as the economy gets worse, more break-ins and crimes of convenience are likely, especially in the summer when we leave windows open.  Once we establish a crime watch and get the word out, we will have an added deterrant in our neighborhood.

I started a crime watch years ago in conjunction with the Downtown Neighborhood Alliance,
if you are interested in talking, but can't come to the meeting, please call me at 793 2120.

Sincerely,
Monica Anderson
Summit resident on Sixth Street

My friend (who lives on Savoy) and I saw a couple of kids on bikes
hanging around, after I left her she sent me this e-mail....

So those kids we were watching did break into that house.

They came back on foot, right in front of me in the dining room, went
up a different driveway.

I walked outside saw them behind the same house they were looking at
before looking in the window. I ran back to have Peter call the cops.
Then one of them jumped out of the window.

The cops came and said that there was a laptop next to the window
ready to go but they must have gotten spooked and run off.

The cops said there have been a lot of break-ins lately.

The attempted break in was on Sargent Ave, either 26 or 30. Between
3:30 and 4 pm.
2 caucasian boys ages 15-17?
One was wearing a heathered gray hooded sweatshirt and shorts. He
was the taller of the 2 and more stocky.
The second was wearing a white T shirt and flat brimmed based ball
cap and a drawstring backpack. He was thinner and shorter.
They were on bikes the first time we saw them. The smaller of the 2
was on a bike that looked like a kids bike. They also talked on
their cell phones a lot. They were not smart enough to realize that
we were watching them.
