Dear Summit Neighbors,

I am sending this on behalf of Summit Neighborhood Association
President Jim Kelly. It is a time-sensitive matter, and Jim doesn't
have email access today.

We are asking that you sign the electronic petition
at<http://citizenspeak.org/node/1286>
http://citizenspeak.org/node/1286. The petition requests that David
Gifford, Director of the Rhode Island Department of Health,
prioritize the inspection and certification of the former Hillside
Nursing Facility, which Radius Management plans to reopen as a
similar facility, to be renamed "Summit Commons." "Signing" the
petition involves sending an email containing a prepared letter to
Dr. Gifford, with copies to Governor Carcieri, Senator Perry,
Representative Fox and Councilman Jackson. You may add your own
personal statement at the end. You will need to enter your name,
email and address, but these will not be given to anyone but the
recipients of the letter.

The decision may be made this week, so please act today!

John Smithers, who has been coordinating this effort, provided the
following statement:

Many of us who live next door to the Summit Commons Property are quite
pleased to see the nursing facility re-open under new, professional
management. The old Hillside Center was a neglected, abandoned building
for the past four years. By sending your positive comments you are
supporting your neighbors who live directly next to property. What
these neighbors are asking from the SNA membership is a vote of support
for the facility obtaining approval to be certified for Blue Cross /
Blue Shield reimbursement. Please read the attached letter and let your
governmental representative know how important this is to the elderly
population of RI and to the community living directly next to the
facility. [you can read the letter on the CitizenSpeak site before
you add your name- TAS]

Jim Kelly adds:

The Hillside neighbors have worked hard to ensure the new owners of
Summit Commons on Hillside Avenue are good neighbors. The Board of
the SNA agrees with and supports them; they are asking us to assist
them at a critical point in the process. Please read the letter and
send your support using the CitizenSpeak link below:
