[Summit] Trick or Treating?

We are right on Hope at 6th and get mobbed till well after dark. We say one
piece each to the kids, or two each; otherwise it gets crazy expensive. I
often have to run to CVS in the middle of the evening. Our back door is
visible from 6th street and doesn't look very back door-ish, so sometimes
they try that too.

This year we will not be participating because it will be Friday night, our
Sabbath. This will be tricky, especially because we will want to leave our
porch light on (the customary sign, I think, of being in business or not
for trick or treating) because WE need the lights- we don't want our guests
coming back from shul climbing our uneven steps with the lights off.

My husband and I have be brain storming about putting up a sign of some
kind. At last we have one of those radio/battery doorbells, so we can just
take it in the house, but that won't prevent multiple bangings on the door.
Which is not the end of the world, but not very peaceful for the Sabbath!
