Providence: The Camera Werks at 766 Hope St., Providence, will be hosting
a Photo Digital Workshop on Saturday, February 7, 2009 at 2 p.m. with
award-winning newspaper photographer, Omar Bradley. This two-session workshop is
aimed at improving your digital picture taking skills and instilling
confidence in the world of digital photography. Do you Jpeg or Tiff? Do megapixels
really make a difference? This afternoon workshop is geared to simplifying
and assisting all digital camera users in how to achieve the results they
desire with some easy tips from this veteran photojournalist. Cost is $80.00 for
two sessions. The first session on February 7 will include lighting,
composition, image resolution and digital photo technique. The second session will
be held on Saturday, February 14 and will include on-location shooting and
tips on taking great photos with your digital camera. Space is limited - and
early registration is encouraged. For more information or to register, please
call The Camera Werks at #401-273-5367.
Omar Bradley has been a newspaper photographer for over 25 years. His work
has received numerous awards from several prestigious organizations, some of
which include the New England Press Association as well as Suburban
Newspapers of America. Over the years, Bradley's photographic career has spanned
throughout New England, where his work as a newspaper photographer for the
Providence Journal, the Pawtucket Times and the Fall River Herald News has earned
him recognition. Bradley considers himself to be "a socially conscious news
photographer who enjoys doing picture stories aimed at making people aware of
other cultures, environment and their role in the community".
The Camera Werks has been recognized for bringing a unique hands-on approach
to photography by incorporating local professional photographers in a
classroom experience or photo workshop setting to share their techniques. These
photo workshops have included working with several of Rhode Island's public and
private schools in addition to working with the senior residents at both
Laurelmead Assisted Living Facility and Hamilton House in Providence.
