[Summit] electronics recycling

Hi All,
I'd like to offer a suggestion to the Hope Street Merchants
Association. I know some of you monitor and contribute to this forum.
I see in the February issue of East Side Monthly that you're planning a
warm-weather event this year. How about offering a neighborhood
electronics recycling drop-off as part of the event--i.e., a truck
parked in a lot, manned by two or three people, where everyone can
bring their old computers, cell phones, etc. If well advertised in
advance, this could bring more people to Hope Village for your event.
And perhaps those that bring items to recycle could receive a coupon
good for a discount, or another promotion, at local stores.
As an added bonus, one truck going to the RI eco-depot would be
environmentally friendlier than many individual trips, and would make
it easier for people to recycle, rather than throw out, their old
electronics.
Electronics drop offs have recently been instituted in my neighborhood
in Manhattan. They take place twice a year, and a lot of people stop by
with stuff. Our local elected representatives were responsible for
initiating them, and response has been greater than they expected.
