[Summit] tetanus/ DTP shot help/advice needed

My doctor wants me to be immunized against whooping cough (there's a reason)
and tetanus, which I agree with, but in the past I was told I am allergic to
formaldehyde and formalized serum, which is all I have encountered so far.
Any docs, pharmacists, health types on our list know how you track something
like that down?

Years ago, when I got the "wrong" shot, it was a good thing it was in the
other arm from the cat-damage-- so we could tell it was the shot causing all
the gross trouble.  But the trouble was mostly localized to the arm that
time.
But allergies can get worse, and be life threatening.
Or could I have been allergic to the tetanus??  How would I know?

And I'm Miss Allergic!
Advice welcomed.
