Anisa, I've already signed up on the site you provided, but I wanted to thank you publicly. This is something I wanted to organize and didn't -- mostly because of my singing voice! Thank you so much for helping create ritual and community.

Neighborhood Caroling on Wed., Dec. 22nd 5:30-7:30pm
I'm inviting Summit Neighborhood residents, friends and families to participate in a family-friendly caroling event on the East Side of Providence on Wednesday, December 22 from 5:30-7:30pm.
Last year, my family and I participated in the West Broadway Neighborhood Assoc. (WBNA) caroling event. (Read a review: http://www.projo.com/news/content/HOLIDAY_CHEER_12-21-09_D1GS20A_v17.3a7066f.html). It was a wonderful community building event, with over 70 people caroling through the Armory neighborhood.
As the publisher of Kidoinfo.com (a family resource guide), I thought it would be fun to start a similar event on the East Side. I anticipate having many families with little kids so our route will not venture out that far.- casual event is free and open to the public. - 5:30-6:30pm, meet at Chez Pascal for complimentary snacks (and cash bar)- 6:30-7:30pm, carol around the neighborhood
Last year, WBNA organized bathroom breaks and refreshments at businesses and neighbors' homes along the way. Although providing food and beverages is not necessary, I would like to plan a route with designated locations where people will be home when carolers stop to sing.
Please contact me (anisa at kidoinfo.com), to schedule carolers at your house/business or if you can provide refreshments or bathroom breaks. (Planning to walk on streets west of Hope St. within several blocks of Chez Pascal). If a representative from Miriam Hospital is on this list, please contact me if you want to be involved.
If you want to help lead the signing, please let me know. Singing is not one of my talents - organizing and general holiday cheer is more my style- so I welcome others to lead the singing.
Since this is the first year, I have no idea how many carolers to expect at Chez Pascal or how much interest there is in the neighborhood. To help set expectations, please register here: http://2010eastsidecaroling.eventbrite.com/
