Greg, I'm in. I got a ticket for overnight parking last night on Carrington (I moved my car by 2:30) and the PPD is saying they don't have the manpower to ticket the 10 buildings on that block (and plenty around the corner on Hope) that haven't shoveled, days after the storm. It's ridiculous.

Hello all,

I noticed the "For Sale" sign has just been removed from the Sears Building and replaced with a "For Rent" sign with NMS Associates as the contact (although the telephone number is the same). Does NMS stand for North Main Street? If so, who are the associates and how can a property in such disrepair be rented? Just curious. Thanks.

I sent the following to the projo. Who knows if they will print it?

I can cope with quiet streets by walking in the street, but main streets are
critical for connectivity. On N Main I want to single out the biggest
scofflaw, the Shell station. I have gone in there over the years and asked
them to shovel. They say it is not their job. It is the only spot for 10
blocks not shoveled. If anyone would like to join me, I am tempted to throw
the snow from their sidewalks back into their plowed driveways. greg

To the editor,

The snow stopped on Monday, here it is Wednesday afternoon and the city is
still not passable for people on foot. Many places, including businesses on
major streets have not shoveled. The overpasses over the highways are not
shoveled. Often you find whole blocks that are shoveled (THANKS) but then
you get to the corner and there is not safe way to get to the street.
Providence wants to be a transit friendly community but the bus stops are
not shoveled.

Providence wants to be about connectivity, but it is locking people into
their houses by not enforcing the shoveling ordinance. I ran into the local
parking enforcement person in my neighborhood. I asked if she could give
tickets for not shoveling. She said she had no orders to enforce the law.

It is time for a change in RI. The North Atlantic is likely to become
snowier as the climate changes (if you are from the north you know it can be
too cold to snow). One of our best tools for dealing with the climate
nightmare we are heading into is to help people feel safe walking. Lets
hope the new mayor takes this more seriously than the departing mayor.

I live on Fourth St., near Highland. This morning, Thurs. (12/20/10) a black
and white cat was sitting on our back deck railing. It is DSH (Domestic
Short Hair), and large build. The cat is mostly black; except his stomach,
front legs and paws--all of which are white. It has a dark tail; except the
tip. The face is white; except the eyes and a splash of dark on its nose.

He is very timid. This is the second time my husband has seen him. I have a
photo to share should someone beable to help in identifying his
status...owned or stray.

Thank You all,

Monique Doherty
