I'll try to call the Lt. before I leave the city today. Thanks for the number. I just asked Walgreens on N. Main to remove the huge snowbanks and snow blocking their sidewalk. The manager seemed surprised to see all the snow out there. He said a company does it for them. Apparently the sidewalks aren't in the contract.

Thanks for the reply's---this has been an ongoing problem I have had for
several years now--and NO ONE is willing to step to the plate and help
resolve the issue.
Like I have expressed-It Is ridiculous!! Plus there is a nursing home
down the street-and (possible) major congestion if emergency vehicles need to
get through. Perhaps is there is some type of mishap---then and only then
will someone take note of this ongoing situatuation.

I believe that the law requires that snow be removed within 24 hours
after the snowfall has ended. Are there fines or penalties if this is
not done? Fines for non-removal of snow would be a great source of
revenue for the city.
It would probably generate more revenue than cars parked overnight on
the streets. If the police are driving around looking for cars parked on
the streets they could certainly notice houses that haven't shovelled
their sidewalks
and issue tickets for that too. Maybe it should be treated the same as
traffic and parking violations. Of course, I don't know how feasible
any of this is but it's certainly worth a try. It's difficult to walk
around now and I'm getting
quite annoyed. It's obvious that appeals to civic mindedness don't work
so maybe hitting people in the pocketbook would.
