Hi,
I found a hammer and chisel on the ground in my fenced-in backyard this
morning. Neither my husband nor I left them there. Did not see any damage
around my house or garage, but disconcerting to be sure!

Hi All,
About an hour and a half ago I saw two men break into m neighbor's house on
Hillside Avenue through a basement window. I called the police immediately
but they arrived too late. The pair of burglars had left by the back door,
setting off the house's alarm. The house was sold recently and is empty, so
I doubt the two got away with anything.
The two men I saw were white and looked like construction workers or
appliance repair guys. I'd say they were mid-thirties to around forty. One
of them had very close cropped hair and was lanky. The other had his back to
me as he jimmied the window open, so I didn't get a good look at him. Both
men were carrying black back packs. If you see two men matching this
description, consider calling the police. At the very least, keep an eye on
them.

Our neighbors saw 2 men with suitcases and backpacks scoping 9th Street a
week ago. They walked into a number of driveways and left when they noticed
someone watching them.

Occasionally I see people driving very slowly down our street ( Lauriston
Street, west side of Hope).
Last Saturday morning, at 5:40, when most people are asleep, a woman drove
very slowly down our street and stopped at the corner of Lauriston and
Bayard. (There's no stop sign on that corner.) As she drove, she was
talking into a cell phone or recorder. When she stopped at the corner, I
walked toward her car hoping to be able to read the license plate. When she
saw me walking in her direction, she turned the corner.
Ever since this episode I've been wondering if she's casing the block.

I also see people doing the same--as though there were looking for house
numbers---could there possible be more to it? Residing across from India
Restaurant it is almost impossible to know who is doing what........H.

I saw these two guys on Bayard yesterday around 2pm or so. They had on
backpacks, etc. They stood out to me and I got a bad feeling they were up to
something, even before reading these posts.

Just a few minutes ago, there was a Miriam employee smoking a cigarette on
the corner of 9th and Summit (way further down than normal for a smoking
break). She was in the neighbor's yard, starring into the windows. She then
moved onto our house, trying to get close and look in the windows. I started
staring her down, trying to get a look at her badge, and she crossed the
street and started on the neighbor's windows. I don't think anyone would be
dumb enough to case homes while wearing an ID; however, I wouldn't be
surprised.

Hi, all,
I'm pretty sure she wasn't looking for a particular house. Her speed was
abnormally slow but very steady. I think she was talking into a cell phone
or recorder... recording what she was observing on our block. Otherwise,
why did she suddenly turn the corner, after being stationary at the
intersection for at least one minute, when she saw me walking closer?
This left a very bad taste in my mouth.
