I'm sure there are people living in the Summit neighborhood besides me who don't agree with this - I wonder if this the best use of the Summit e-mail list. These are collectively bargained benefits that should be addressed with the unions involved. Thanks, Karen McAninch

Issue No. 409.1 | November 8 2011 | Providence, Rhode Island

Take Action for Pension Reform
Dear Friends,
I have been advocating along with the City Council President and other Mayors and municipal leaders to ensure that the pension reform legislation enacted at the General Assembly includes the tools to help Providence address our pension crisis.
We are seeking the power to suspend COLAs for municipal retirees – just like the state is proposing for state retirees. This legislative tool will allow Providence's pension system (currently 34% funded) to become healthy in just 10 years.
Please click here and join me in asking the General Assembly leadership to support Pension Reform that will help Providence:
http://citizenspeak.org/campaign/cityofprovidence/providence-needs-pension-reform
Thanks for all that you do.
Sincerely,
Mayor Angel Taveras
