[Summit] wet basement

The basement waterproofing people will always be happy to sell you their
services, but the best way to deal with a wet basement is to figure out how
the water is getting in. Often the problem originates with the grading of
the soil around the foundation. If it slopes down towards the foundation, it
directs water towards your basement. Another common source of water is from
gutter downspouts emptying into old pipes that are supposed to lead to the
sewers but that can break or clog over the years leaving the water to
saturate the earth next to the foundation. Often correcting simple things
like these will make a big difference. If there's still a problem, a French
drain installed around the outside of the foundation can be a solution. I'd
recommend having a general contractor over to look at your situation and
give some advice.

Any one have any recommendations for basement waterproofing/ installing a
sump pump? Not sure exactly what I need, but whatever it is, I need it
quick.
Thanks,
Mike Arden

Anyone know where I can donate 3 ring binders? Also, old science books from
the late 60's and early 70's?
Thanks,
Linda

Ashley,
Please contact Heather Gutshall at Handsome Dan's Rescue for Pit Bull Type
Dogs here in RI. If she can't take the pup herself, she may have ideas
for a better placement than a municipal shelter where (you're right) the
death rate tends to be high.
http://www.handsomedansrescue.org/
Heather owns Handsome Dan, one of the rescued and rehabilitated Michael
Vick dogs from his illegal fighting operation in Virginia. (If any of you
love dogs, please read a wonderful book "The Lost Dogs," by Sports
Illustrated's Jim Gorant, about the amazing outcome of the raid on Vick's
kennels.)
There is also the Providence Animal Rescue League, a private rescue in the
jewelry district. Probably worth contacting them, too.

Good luck. Please feel free (Ashley) to contact me directly. I'm friends
with many folks in the pit bull rescue community and have a rescued pittie
myself.
