[Summit] Planning to Plan

Hi All,
One thing I observed at the Planning meeting last night is that the
commission seems quite uncomfortable with the level of engagement and
interest in their activities. This leads me to believe that for important
rulings, bodies in the room really are important.
It's easy to ignore letters, but not so easy direct eye contact. As
evidence, I read portions of a letter that my wife wrote and submitted
prior to the meeting, points of which (like turning the lights in the
parking lot down or off within and hour of closing) were directly addressed
by the board. Those same points were not addressed at all and would not
have been if I had not been there to speak them.
It's not so fun to give up your evening to this type of thing, but if we
want change, this is the level on which we need to engage. Further, I
believe that if this Commission expects a high level of community presence
at their meetings, that anticipation *may* change their approach.
Bob Azar read the acceptance of the plan from a stapled printout that he
obviously came to the meeting with.
Think about it.

Thank You,
Michael McGlynn
