[Summit] vote count is in, Mitchell concedes

Just saw this on Facebook, posted by Marcus Mitchell: 


"Paper ballot count at the Board of Elections put Councilman Jackson ahead, and he has won re-election. I wish him success in helping to manage the city through difficult times ahead. And I thank everyone who supported and voted for me." 


I'm saddened, but also inspired by the activism of my neighbors -- on all sides. A contested election is good for all of us. I hope we can use this energy in a positive way in the coming years, not only to hold our elected officials accountable, but to dream of and aspire to an even better neighborhood. I'll try to do my part. Thanks everyone!
