For Veterinarians:

I wholeheartedly recommend the Coventry Animal Hospital, 2091 Nooseneck
Hill Road, Coventry. Phone: (401) 385-2882.

The vets are Dr. Hank Wietsma and Dr. Sam Lester. Hank has been my
parrot's vet for the last 27 years. Hank also treats cats, dogs, reptiles,
and just about any mammal or exotic animal you can think of. He's
board-certified in avian medicine.

Dr. Wietsma formed a partnership with Dr. Lester and they opened the
Coventry Animal Hospital a little over a year ago.

>From my experience with Dr. Wietsma, and from the letters on the Coventry
Animal Hospital's Facebook page, I can guarantee that if you regard your
pet as a member of your family, both Dr. Wietsma and Dr. Lester will, too.

I don't know how their fees compare with those of other vets. When Dr.
Wietsma had his own clinic (he retired and sold it -- Dr. Lester persuaded
him to come out of retirement and open the new clinic with him), his prices
were middle-of-the-road and quite affordable.

Coventry sounds far away, but I think it takes me 20 -- 25 minutes to get
there. It's on Highway 3, about 2 miles from the junction with I-95. (The
junction is just past the building where Gtech used to be and the water
tower.)

Doctors for people: I'd like to recommend Dr. Parul Shah at Coastal
Medical, on Warren Ave. (East Providence). My previous doctor moved away,
and I've known Dr. Shah for about a year. I really like her. 401-331-1221.
A nice thing about Coastal Medical is that (for sick adults) they have a
doctor on call in the evenings and on weekends and holidays, and you can
even be seen by the doctor immediately if he/she feels it's necessary.
We've availed ourselves of this service several times.

For a pre-teen girl: I think pre-teens and teenagers are still under the
purview of a pediatrician, unless you have a doctor specializing in "family
medicine".

I hope this helps!
