As someone who doesn't watch baseball and is keenly aware of the "economic
stimulus" fallacy that always insinuates itself into city stadium
initiatives, the fact that an expensive, publicly underwritten project
might be made more palatable to some, just by promising a "tie-in" with an
already-popular idea of a park and some benches, strikes me as a rather
transparent effort to sway votes.
But maybe that's just me.
