[Summit] Summit Digest, Vol 126, Issue 28

Since Mayor Elorza cares a lot about the voters on the East Side, I called
his office directly. I spoke with one of his aides, gave the gist of the
story and the locations. She is looking into it and will call me back with
an update. If I don't hear from her by 4, I will call her back.

I just used the Waste Management chat tool to report the glass on Colonial
Rd. Others should use the tool to report their streets. Here's a copy of the
chat transcript:

today?FredG:
Hi Benjamin, This morning, the recycling truck dumped several large piles of
glass all up and down Colonial Road. Can you send a cleanup crew? Benjamin:
I'm sorry to hear that. I can definitely report that to the dispatchers so
we can have someone come clean up. What city and state please?FredG:
Providence,
RI Benjamin: Thank you. I have sent it over to the route manager and
dispatcher. We should have no problem getting that cleaned up today. We
apologize for any inconvenience. Benjamin: Was there anything else I could
assist you with today?FredG: Nope, that's all. Thanks!

Hi neighbors - we're seeking recommendations for a local piano instructor
for a five year old. Any referrals would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hey Toby,

Before launching yourself (and your child) headfirst into piano lessons, I
highly recommend investigating musicforchildrenri.com first (taught by our
ex-Summit neighbor Lindsay), particularly for young children. I studied
music for many years and so I was a tad skeptical the first time we
attended, but I was soon very impressed with their approach to teaching
music to young minds: all the elements of music taught through movement,
action, story, singing and, of course, listening.

It's very thorough and the kids ADORE IT.

The 3s-4s usually focus on the above, while I believe the 5s-6s-7s and up
also begin to work on piano (and ukulele, from what I hear!). It's not going
to be as intensive as private lessons, but I'll bet it'll be a better tool
for engaging his/her mind.

My 2 cents, good luck!

Emlyn

This already happened the previous Monday in front of my house on 9th
Street. I called WM and got the "due to high volume..." I ended up
cleaning as much as I could with a broom. This time there were other
recyclables in addition to broken glass.
