Sorry I forgot to send this out earlier.
The meeting to learn and comment about the retirement of fire engines from the Humboldt (Wayland Sq.) and Rochambeau stations, organized by City Councillor Sam Zurier, is at 6:30 p.m. TONIGHT (Weds. 21 Dec.) in the downstairs cafeteria of Nathan Bishop School, on Sessions St. and Elmgrove Avenue, facing Brown Stadium and the Jewish Community Center. Come in the main entrance at Sessions St. (facing the stadium) and follow the signs along corridors and down stairs.
This is not a public hearing that will make any decisions.,
But it will be a chance to hear from city officials about the firefighters’ contract (just ratified by IAFF local 799’s members) and their plans to remove one engine from the Humboldt Ave. Fire Station (at the junction of Irving and Cole Avenues) and one (the only one) from the Rochambeau Station, just below Hope Street and the branch library.
There should also be an opportunity to ask questions and make brief comments.
Should time allow, there might also be a chance to hear about the infrastructure backlog that the City had once hoped to fund through a bond issue that proved abortive.
Hope to see you there.
Happy Midwinter’s Day and Happy Holidays.
