[Summit] Mid-day Storm Updates Fri. 5 Feb.: RIPTA, MBTA, JCC, Weather Service (2016 Vol. 2, bulletin 2)

Here are some recently-posted updates about transit, weather reports and, the Jewish Community Center/Jewish Alliance.

Another Republican debate will be broadcast on ABC (Channel 6) at 8 p.m. Saturday night, and Super Bowl L on CBS (12) at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday.

On Monday morning, RIPTA will divert some downtown stops and routes to accommodate the funeral procession of the late Mayor Vincent A. “Buddy” Cianci, Jr, after his lying-in-state at City Hall on Saturday and Sunday (noon to 6 p.m.)  See below.

¶ 1. RIPTA 

(a)  Service has been suspended today on Route 49, serving Camp Street and Miriam Hospital. 

The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) announced that five routes are on detour on Friday, February 5, 2016 due to winter weather conditions. Routes 14, 27, 49, 64 and 87 are currently on detour.   Riders may expect some delays on all routes due to weather conditions and are advised to use extreme caution at bus stops due to decreased visibility and slippery conditions.

The safety of our employees and passengers is RIPTA’s top priority. RIPTA apologizes for the inconvenience and asks for the public’s understanding as we work around to maintain service during this storm. Details at

(b)  The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will detour twelve bus routes and relocate bus stops in the Providence area to accommodate funeral services for former Mayor Vincent "Buddy" Cianci Jr.  Routes 1, 3, 6, 17, 18, 19, 20, 22, 30, 31, 92 and the R-Line will be detoured beginning at 5:00am until 9:00am on Monday, February 8, 2016.   RIPTA Bus Stops A, B, C, D, and E will be temporarily relocated to Exchange Terrace. More details at:
