Procession and Festival Welcome
Tomorrow, Saturday, June 4th, will serve as the showcase day for PVDFest, and I will march through Washington Street with my colleagues in government, local bands, artists, and community groups representing our diverse city in a magnificent procession. The parade will begin at 4:30pm and we will make our way down to the heart of the festival in Kennedy Plaza. I will officially welcome everyone at 5pm on the main stage with the help of the Eastern Medicine Singers.

So Many Parties to Choose From
With so much going on we have also compiled a list of the many block parties, satellite events, and mini-music festivals that will pop up throughout the streets of downtown. If time permits, stop by the kick-off of the WBRU Summer Concert Series, which will be held tonight at the Festival Rink Stage at the Alex and Ani City Center. You can also visit the the Dean Hotel, which will turn its parking lot into the base of a lively block party. Grant’s Block which is located on the corner of Westminster and Union will also house many great activities, including the Providence Poetry Slam.

Highlighted opportunities include the Creative Mile walking tour, which will showcase art installations in the I-195 Redevelopment District, and a tour led by Seen/Unseen Providence portrait series photographer, Mary Beth Meehan. Other attractions include a display featuring pieces from AS220 resident artists and numerous pop-up art exhibits. Read More |

A Food Lover’s Paradise
Providence’s cuisine scene is unmatched! Our world-class restaurants and our eclectic food trucks earned us the best ‘foodie’ city in America title not too long ago. With over 30 food trucks offering tasty and unique food and more than 20 restaurants expanding their presence outside, I’m sure that you will find something to satisfy your appetite. Participating food trucks and restaurants include the famous Haven Brothers Diner, O’Crepe, Viva Mexico, Local 121, Murphy’s, the Rosendale, and many, many more!
