Dear Summit Neighbors,
On behalf of the SNA Board of Directors, I would like to thank those of you who responded to our poll regarding parking meters on Hope Street. The survey was sent to the 366 subscribers of the SNA listserv, and we received 130 responses.
On the question regarding meters on Hope Street:
105 people (81%) opposed installing parking meters.
9 people (7%) approved.
16 people (12%) were not sure.
With regard to installing meters on side streets adjacent to Hope:
119 people (92%) opposed installing parking meters.
3 people (2%) approved.
8 people (6%) were not sure.
While this was not a scientific poll, the response rate was very good, and the majority against parking meters was extremely strong. Given this, the Board feels that the results are sufficient for us to take the position that the Summit neighborhood strongly opposes parking meters. We will communicate these results to Mayor Elorza, and ask to open a conversation with him and the city’s Parking Administrator, Leo Perrotta.
Sincerely,
Thomas Schmeling
Secretary, SNA
