Yes I am. And I'm not fan of anonymity either. But I'm not asking you to
trust me. I offer no testimony, just a few quotes and comments. I'd do so
using my normal email, but the political climate would make that a little
too uncomfortable. I don't feel much like being called a racist because I
don't think that much of the CSA is viable. Some people seem to think that
you must be in favor of police killing black people if you criticize
anything like this or any of the BLM platform. . . .
Parts of the CSA are very problematic. I noted just a few. It's also a
strategically unwise document. It tries to pack way too much into one
measure. I guess the proponents thought that they had a better chance if
they could combine interest groups, linking concerns about gender issues,
immigration, police shootings of blacks, juvenile justice, etc. But now
they are simply trying to push way too much at once. They didn't so much as
combine forces as ensure that they get a lot of push back.
It would have been much more effective, say, if they had simply tried to
get the police to wear cameras. They probably would have failed, but it
might have stood a chance. And it might have done some good (though this is
not entirely clear). But instead, they packed it with all manner of things
that hardly anyone is going to accept. It's a wasted effort. It's so
obviously unworkable, you have to wonder why it would have been presented
like this in the first place. . . .
