Hello

I just wanted to let everyone know that I'm happy to make the connections necessary to improve our library. Thanks Dave for reaching out on the list serve, we've already been in touch via the Neighborhood Hotline email and I'm looking forward to exploring how best to connect with the community resources mentioned.

Sincerely,
Monica Anderson

> David et al, I bring boxes of extra books donated to my Little Free Library on Summit to Miriam every two months. Part of the problem seems to be that each time the front desk there has no idea what I'm talking about when I say the books are for their library cart. Usually I have to wait a half hour or more while various people call other people and ask around. Last time they told me their "library room is full".

> Did you know that WBNA implemented the first rat-proof trash can pilot program in the City? Nearly twenty years ago the rat population on the west side and in greater Providence was so out of control that even the cats gave up. Learn more about this throwback project led by a neighbor who had a too-close-for-comfort confrontation with these unwelcome backyard tenants, and how it served as a demonstration program for the City as a whole.

> As part of WBNA's new?Public Trash Can Pilot Program, five sets of trash and recycling containers will be installed this fall at each of the five bus shelters along our main streets of Broadway and Westminster. > | ? Last week, AC+T joined Providence Public School District, and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Arts, to announce that DelSesto, Gilbert Stuart, and Roger Williams Middle Schools will join Turnaround Arts at the start of the next school year. Turnaround Arts is a national program, created by the President?s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities, proven to close the opportunity gap and provide equitable access to the arts in schools. We are thrilled to be a part of Turnaround Arts: Providence! Read the press release about the program. It?s the final countdown for our summer programming! We kick off with PVDFest from June 1-4. Look for a special enews blast later this month with more information about what you can expect to experience this year. We have also announced our summer concert series, an annual tradition in downtown with our long-standing partners at 95.5 WBRU.? Read all about the exciting lineup here. Spring is a great time to rediscover Providence. I?m planning to check in at some of my favorite neighborhood spots during events planned by the city?s merchants associations. Follow the Department on Facebook to create your own arts and culture itinerary. Stephanie Fortunato, Director ? ? ? |

> Hi neighbors!
>
> The Summit Neighborhood Association usually holds its monthly Board meetings on the third Monday of the month. In June, we'll be doing so a week early, on June 12th. As with all our meetings, everyone is welcome to attend, participate in discussion, or just listen and learn what we're working on. 7pm at Summit Commons (99 Hillside Ave).
