Neighbors and Groups Oppose Tower. At a public hearing yesterday of the City Plan Commission, FPNA joined other advocacy groups and concerned parties to express strong opposition to a newly-unveiled tower proposed by architect Jason Fane. $900k Slated for Bus Tunnel. The East Side Bus Tunnel, which connects Thayer and South Main Streets, will receive $900k of improvements, thanks to a federal grant from Senator Jack Reed. Learn more here and here. Image, RIPTA.

Donations Sought for Power Lines. The neighborhood group Friends of India Point Park (FIPP) has set up a GoFundMe campaign to help with its current appeal to the RI Supreme Court, a near-final step in a 16-year effort to bury the power lines in India Point Park. Local Roads Closed for Marathon. On Sunday, May 6, a few roads in Fox Point will be closed for the Providence Marathon, most until about 8:30am; northbound Gano street from India Pt. to Pitman will be closed until 1:30pm. Cat Story Linked to Fox Point. Fox Point resident Chad Nelson, a volunteer for PawsWatchRI, recently helped reunite a lost cat with its family after a full year apart. El Rancho Grande to Open Hope Street Restaurant This Summer. Joaquin Meza, owner of west-side favorite El Rancho Grande, will open a new family-run restaurant on Hope Street (name TBD), across the street from Persimmon. Look for a short driveway at the eastern-most side of the building near the intersection of Governor and Wickenden Streets. The entrance to the Art Room is located about 50 feet down that driveway, on the right-hand side.    |
