College Hill’s association usually meets on the first Monday of each month, but since last Monday was Labor Day, they will be meeting tonight, at the same time, 7 p.m. that Fox Point’s association is meeting (separately) on their own regular monthly schedule.
Earlier this evening, at 5:30, the City is presenting plans for discussion about a new Broad Street entrance to Roger Williams Park.
And from 3-5 p.m. Tuesday the City’s Department of Art, Culture + Tourism is conducting a virtual studio about Art in Public Places.
Have a good week,
Dave

Update from the Mayor's Office
Roger Williams Park Gateway Center Community Meeting
Providence’s park are gateways to healthy, vibrant and connected communities. As we spend more time outdoors, the vital role parks play in our daily lives is more apparent than ever. With Infrastructure Week 2020 just around the corner, we are thrilled to share an exciting new development in Roger Williams Park that exemplifies the City’s commitment to equitable and sustainable infrastructure.
This fall, construction will begin on the Gateway Center at the Broad Street entrance of the park. The state-of-the-art structure designed by INFORM studio, will sit atop the long vacant El Fogon property, activating a blighted space into a thriving community asset.
As part of a community engagement process that began back in 2019, the public is invited to attend a virtual meeting on September 14, 2020 at 5:30 pm to learn more about this transformative investment in Broad Street. During the meeting, participants will be able to meet the design team, preview the site designs, and participate in a question and answer session moderated by Parks Superintendent Wendy Nilsson. Representatives from the Department of Planning and Development, and City of Providence Latino Ambassador group will also be on hand.
Over the years, the City has outlined a bold vision to revitalize Broad Street. From improved bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure through initiatives like Great Streets and City Walk to bringing vacant and abandoned properties like the historic Bomes Theatre back to their original splendor, we’ve built a brighter, more inclusive future for the neighborhood.
To RSVP and learn more about the meeting, visit our Facebook event page. We hope to see you on September 14!

Providence Cultural Plan Planning Studio - Art in Public Places
Since 2009 the Creative Providence cultural plan has served as a dynamic blueprint for strengthening the creative sector and as a community-wide guide to public policy, public initiatives and private investments in the arts. Now, ACT and creative partners are reassessing our sector’s goals and strategies with plans to release the second Cultural Plan in spring 2021. Join the Department of Art, Culture + Tourism for a conversation about cultural participation and finding ways to enhance every resident’s opportunity for arts experiences in their neighborhoods. Please register if you are able to join for the Art in Public Places Studio next Tuesday, Sept 15 from 3pm – 5pm. Would be great to have your voice in the mix:https://artculturetourism.com/mix-it-up/ For more info on the overall Cultural Planning process:https://artculturetourism.com/creative-providence-2020/
