| Hello ,
Hope you are excited for this month's Gallery Night - there is so much happening!
Recently, we collaborated with Mixed Magic Theater on a project that would inspire everyone to "Go See the Art" and we are thrilled to announce the debut of this original song (lyrics by Ricardo Pits-Wiley, music by Kim Morrison Pitts-Wiley) at 4:00pm on our Facebook page. Make sure you clear some space in your living room - you'll want to get up and dance! |

| A Note From Steven Pennell, Gallery Night Board Member:
August 6th was the first anniversary of the passing of our dear friend and colleague Michele Aucoin. Michele was a dear friend to all of us - a gifted designer, mentor, and a tireless promoter of the arts and area artists here in Rhode Island through her gallery Art Prov. Her friendship, kindness and caring spirit are deeply missed.
I wanted to take a moment on behalf of Gallery Night Providence to write to you about our efforts to memorialize Michele this past year:
At the time of Michele’s passing, her husband Nick Paciorek and Michele’s family asked that donations in her memory be made on her behalf to Gallery Night Providence. Over the past decade, Michele devoted considerable time, energy and effort to make Gallery Night Providence a great success. She served on the Executive Board and did all Gallery Night’s graphic Design pro bono.
Due to your generosity, over $1700 was donated in Michele’s name.
In turn, the Gallery Night Board, deeply moved by these donations in honor of Michele, thought long and hard on how best to create a lasting tribute in her memory. So the Michele Aucoin Graphic Design & Social Media Internship was created in her honor.
As a graduate of Rhode Island College (RIC), Michele mentored and fostered a number of RIC students, exhibiting their artwork, and helping them to develop their artistic and business skills in graphic design. In light of her commitment to her alma mater, preference for the internship will be provided to RIC students and graduates in this field.
We are pleased and honored to announce that the first recipient of the Michele Aucoin Internship is Linda Lin, a recent graduate of Rhode Island College. Our hope and plan is for this internship to be provided yearly in Michele’s name.
Please consider continuing to support this lasting tribute to Michele’s memory. We would be grateful for any contribution you can make. Checks can be made out and mailed to Gallery Night Providence, PO Box 603024 Providence, RI, 02906. Or donations can be made through our website or through PayPal.
On behalf of Gallery Night Providence, I want to thank you for taking the time to read about our efforts to create a lasting tribute to an incredible artist and human being, Michele Aucoin. Her spirit continues to shine brightly in our lives! |
