Hi Summit,
I have a weird situation and I hope people won't mind me reaching out here.
Because it also serves as a warning for a scam going around, I thought it
made more sense here than the market list.
Recently, someone impersonating my CEO caught me at a moment when my guard
was down, and I ended up buying two $200 gift cards for Google Play from
CVS, ostensibly as gifts for a client. Long story short, I've worked for a
couple of crazy internet startups where something like this was NOT an
implausible request from a CEO, which is why this didn't ping my "this is a
scam" detection sooner!
Anyway, I realized what was happening just after purchasing and did NOT
turn over the cards' information to the scammer. They are still in their
original packaging, with the scratch-off stuff that covers the activation
code still intact (I also have the original receipt). I feel like a bit of
a mark, but at least I caught myself before giving the info away!
Sadly, I have essentially no use for Google Play gift cards. More sadly,
CVS won't let me return them because they have a no-return policy on gift
cards, and Google refuses to help because they didn't charge my card
themselves. My credit card company can't log it as fraud because I did
actually make the charge.
So, I'm left offering a discount on Google Play gift cards. If you know
someone with an Android phone or Chromebook, these can be used to purchase
movies, music, apps, games, etc. If you're interested in one or both cards,
please contact me directly via email or you can text/call 917-623-9168
For the record, this is not itself a scam. My wife and I have owned our
place on 4th street for nine years and are not going anywhere anytime soon,
so ... if I hand you bad cards, you'd know where I live! 😄
Cheers,
-Chris
