|  From the PPD--free steering wheel lock distribution: (see flyer below)
The Providence Police Department is excited to announce two more steering wheel lock distribution events for Hyundai and Kia vehicles! We will be distributing free steering wheel locks to Hyundai and Kia owners who live, work, or attend school in the City of Providence. Eligible vehicles are models that use only a metal key-not a FOB. Must show registration and license. If you do not live in Providence, but you work or attend school in the city, please bring a valid work/school ID.

Events will be held on the following dates:
Thursday October 27th, 3PM-6PM
Saturday October 29th, 10AM-12PM

Both events will be held at the Providence Public Safety Complex at 325 Washington Street, Providence RI 02903.
There is free parking in the parking garage across from the Safety Complex.

>From the Mayor's Office--Providence EMA to Conduct Test of Port of Providence Emergency Siren Warning System:
Providence Emergency Management Agency and Port partners to conduct annual drill of emergency evacuation system at Port of Providence
PROVIDENCE, RI – The Providence Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) will conduct the annual Port Evacuation Drill which includes a test activation of the Port of Providence Emergency Siren Warning System (PPESWS) at 1:30PM on Monday, October 24, 2022. The primary goal of these drills is to ensure proper functioning of the sirens and the system control panels associated with them.
These sirens may be audible in surrounding communities. Residents do not need to take any action during this drill. The alert signal will be followed by the message: “This is a test of the emergency management public warning system. This is only a test.”

Completed mail ballots can be placed in the drop box located directly behind City Hall on Eddy St.

·       Early voting has begun
Accessible early voting is available Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm in the Joseph A. Doorley Municipal Building at 444 Westminster St. Voters may enter on Greene St and there is free 15-minute parking available. There is NO early voting at City Hall. Providence City Planning is launching a Community Survey to evaluate the Providence Streets Coalition's Hope Street Temporary Trail. They would greatly appreciate your participation in this survey, and your support sharing the survey with your local networks.
Share your perspective by October 31st at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Hope-Street-Trail . Attached is a flyer that you are welcome to print or share digitally. Hard copy surveys will also be available at the Rochambeau Library.
The Hope Street Temporary Trail was a project of the Providence Streets Coalition, their partners, and many volunteers that gave our community the opportunity to engage with an 'urban trail' for one week and provide informed feedback.
This exercise will help the Planning department work with local residents, businesses, and community members to decide how best to pursue the vision of a safe, clean, healthy, inclusive, and vibrant Hope Street. As a reminder, the City has no plans or funding to make permanent changes to Hope Street in the immediate future.

Resident response to prior post regarding the redesigning the North Main Street Corridor:
"...Why should this area be such dead space when it could be a valuable hub for the City?  The current study is well worth looking at: https://www.providenceri.gov/planning/north-main-street-corridor-revitalization-study/"
If you want to develop North Main Street, including retail and housing, even high rise apartments, rebuild the road to accommodate a trolley and bike lanes. Electric trolley, on tracks, not the buses! If the line runs downtown in proximity to the train station, and/or the train station in Pawtucket, even better.

PVD needs more Council people like Helen Anthony who try to do rIght by the taxpayers.
