[Summit] The new electricity option

Hi, everyone.

Put us in the "confused and a little ticked-off" boat. This City program seems like an over-reach. A few years ago we signed up with Arcadia, an out-of-state, but renewable energy supplier. We haven’t been that happy with the billing and the logistics of billing, but we're happy to try and do our part to lower power emissions. I honestly can’t say how legit our electricity has been, but we do get bill reductions for supporting in-state solar farms.

The City plan, even the opt-out, seems to leave the consumer very little choice. If we opt-out, the way I read the form, we get put into a RIE Last Resort Service. This hardly seems like a choice.

I believe I read one City notification, perhaps only as part of a news story, about the new program. I wasn’t completely surprised when we got the notice, but it sure seems like the City needs to do a much, much better job about educating the public about the plans and why electricity sourcing is changing as a whole.
