Oops... I hit send before I was finished. Please excuse minor typos in my first thread. I didn't get a chance to give it a final proofread. Where was I:
1. What if I am already with a third-party supplier and don't want to switch?
Anyone that has proactively chosen their own third-party electricity supplier (like Arcadia) will not be automatically enrolled in the program (and you should not have received a PCE notice as a result). You will remain with your third-party supplier unless you actively opt-in to the program.
1. The City should do a better job educating the public about this plan.
The City will hold a series of public meetings at the end of March and beginning of April on PCE. Two upcoming meetings include:
Date: Monday, March 20, 2023, 4 p.m.
Host: Sustainability Commission
Location: In-person: City Hall, Room 312; or
Virtual via Zoom | Meeting ID: 856 8301 2296 | Link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85683012296 | Phone: +1 646 558 8656 US or 833 548 0276 US Toll-free
AND
Monday, March 27, 2023, 6:00 p.m.
Host: Smiley Administration
Location: Zoom | Meeting ID: 841 1981 3584 |Link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84119813584 | Phone: +1 309 205 3325 US or 833 548 0276 US Toll-free
1. Calling RI Energy's supply service the "Last Resort Services" seems like a scare tactic.
"Last Resort Service" is the actual name of RI Energy's supply service. Anyone that would like to stay with RI Energy's supply service may opt-out of PCE without penalty.
I hope this information helps you make your decisions about whether to participate in the program.
Sincerely,
Kevin Proft
