>From the Mayor's Chief of Staff--Update on Storm Clean up as of 11:19am:
Overnight, Providence snow response teams made significant progress across the city and are getting close making all streets passable for essential transportation. Crews are verifying conditions now before moving into the next phase of operations: widening and continuing large scale snow removal. As a reminder, the parking ban remains in effect and any cars on the street risk being ticketed and towed.
Heavy industrial snow removal equipment operated throughout the night on major commercial corridors and that work will continue throughout the day. These operations take time and cause traffic delays, so police details are supporting while crews move block by block. The equipment removes large volumes of snow into dump trucks, though some residual snow may remain and will be addressed by follow up crews. Hundreds of trucks have removed snow from our streets.
We know this storm created conditions unlike a typical snowfall, and cleanup will look different than what neighbors are used to. The progress made in the last 24 hours has been substantial, and crews will continue working around the clock to complete first passes, widen streets and restore normal operations as quickly and safely as possible.
If you believe your street has not been addressed by any equipment, please report it directly to PVD311 or by dialing 3-1-1. If you are looking for a car that was towed, or want to report an abandoned vehicle, please call 401-272-3121 directly. Please review this FAQ for answers to frequently asked questions specific to this storm.
