 Good afternoon--
I’m writing with a brief update after the recent storm. City teams have been working throughout the night and into today under very difficult conditions to move as much snow as quickly and safely as possible. Crews remain actively engaged across the city, prioritizing main roads, emergency routes and have moved to secondary and side streets. We appreciate everyone's patience as we move throughout the city.As a reminder:   
   - Warming centers remain open, and staff continue to monitor capacity and availability. Cold weather resources are availablehere.
   - PVD311 will remain open for calls until 7:00PM today to assist residents with non-emergency service requests and questions.
   - The parking ban remains in effect at this time.
   - Property owners are required to clear sidewalks to ensure pedestrian safety.
   - Residents are reminded not to park in school parking lots, which must remain clear so Providence Public School District teams can safely clean and prepare properties for a return to school operations.
We continue to strongly encourage residents use caution while traveling and to check on neighbors who may need assistance. As always, please call 9-1-1 for emergencies.Please let me know if you have any questions.

From: Crowell, EmilySent: Saturday, January 24, 2026 6:13 PMTo: Crowell, Emily <ECrowell at providenceri.gov>Subject: Winter Weather Update Good evening, I’m writing to share an updated forecast for the significant winter storm expected to impact Providence beginning tomorrow and continuing into Monday, along with reminders about City preparations and available resources.Updated timing and storm impactsSnowfall is now expected to begin between 9:00AM and 11:00AM on Sunday.
Snow will be heavy at times Sunday afternoon, particularly from 2:00PM through around midnight, with snowfall rates of 1–2 inches per hour possible.This will make for very dangerous conditions for travel during this time.
Snow will become lighter overnight, with lighter snow continuing Monday morning, adding some additional accumulation before ending late Monday morning.
Wind gusts are possible late Sunday night through Monday, which may contribute to blowing and drifting snow.
Snow accumulations of up to 12 inches are expected statewide.City departments are fully activated and preparing for prolonged storm impacts and extreme cold following snowfall. Due to continued cold temperatures, snow accumulation is expected to remain and cleanup will take time.A citywide snow parking ban will begin at 11:00AM until further notice. Cars that remain on the streets will towed after 11:00AM, if someone's car is towed they can call 272-3121.
Full details and updated parking maps are available here for parking permit holders. School parking lots are not permitted for permit holders in order to allow PPSD to clear them for school operations when necessary. Residents are encouraged to review parking restrictions in advance and plan accordingly.
Roger Williams Park Zoo, the Botanical Center, the Museum of Natural History and North Burial Ground will be closed Monday.
Trash removal is delayed for Monday.
All micro-mobility will be paused until further notice.
Warming centers are open and cold weather resources are available here with staff monitoring capacity. We strongly encourage residents to plan ahead, avoid travel during the heaviest snowfall if possible, and check on neighbors who may need assistance.Please call 9-1-1 for any emergencies.We will continue to monitor conditions closely and share updates as forecasts evolve.
