I have the same problems as Ellen bins are too big by move around cars and we only. Have 1all bag a week. But I am very aware of the households that need large bins. As they say. First world problem. Ultimately not an issue of concern. Greg

Subject: [Summit] new trash bins?
Hi folks,
Happy Spring!
I'm wondering if anyone else is having the same dilemma as we are. Our driveway is super narrow and is also the space we have to store trash bins. Our old trash bin could fit past cars if they were parked just right. The new one requires moving cars, as we've had to do to get the recycling bin out (every 4-6 weeks). My household generates one small (4 gallon) bag of trash per week, so the old bin was already way oversized and the new one is just ridiculous. I imagine that the new bins are aimed at addressing the overflowing bins and ensuing rat problems that can happen in multifamily homes. I think its great to address that problem and, for me (and maybe some of you?), it means that trash sits in our bin longer, which is OK in winter and really gross in summer.
I'll be contacting the city to see if there is a smaller trash bin option, a pursuit I imagine will be futile, but who knows. I first wanted to ask if anyone else has the same issue and has perhaps already contacted the city, or wants to be included in my request?
Thanks! Ellen, Mayflower St.
