National Grid says this is for safety, but can't point to any cases where this would have prevented an accident. This is the legislation to protect Rhode Island homes against visually-intrusive exterior gas meter locations. Many of you are aware of this issue and the damage it can do to historic and non-historic homes in every corner of RI (National Grid's plans for gas meter relocation applies to all of RI and goes beyond the West Side of Providence).
