<p>If someone wants to attend, it might be worth asking in advance whether the invitation is meant to include those of us who are not First People. Though it is not entirely clear, the wording suggests to me that it does not.<br>

Greetings Freinds, <br>We are extending our hands in freindship and asking for your participation in a public ceremony <i>A Prayer for Mother Earth, Sunday,</i> July 11, 2010 at 6:000pm at Indian Point Park in Providence. The ceremony is<i> </i>in response to the continuing Deepwater Horizon oil spill that has become the largest offshore oil spill in U.S. history impacting all life. Your presence is greatly needed as we all need to work together for solutions. As the First People, we have been assigned by the Creator as the original stewards of the Earth. By offering a Healing Circle, we can reduce stress, restore hope and peace through the power of prayer. I have invited other Native groups in the area as well as local and tribal officals to join us. There will be a smudge ceremony and drumming from Eastern Medicine Singers; and a prayer in the Massachusett language by Strong Woman (Julianne Jennings). Participants will also be given the opportunity to share their concerns and prayers. We look forward in seeing you soon. Please pass this message along to others concerned about the environment.
