I don't think that's altogether fair. Come spring, this board lights up with crime reports and just last week there was talk of bogus _magazine sellers_ once again mining the area for easy scores. So it's perfectly understandable that another seller could raise eyebrows.<br>

<br>Yes, one can indeed refuse to answer the door, but how is that any more compassionate? In my view the neighbor who called the police was just practicing due diligence and magazine sellers would understand a certain level of suspicion in a neighborhood so often targeted by less well-intentioned outfits.<br>

<br>Call me cynical, but after having my $2,000 wheels stolen off my car in the middle of the night, not 8 feet from where I sleep, I consider any "business" practices in the area as much fair game to us as we are to them.<br>
