For some of the kids, cool water from the fountain is their only relief from the hot summer sun in the city. I'm not advocating for kids diving in the fountain to swim, but from what I've
seen most kids are just playing around, dipping their feet in and having a
good time. And I'm in the park at least twice a day, sometimes more.<br><br>My husband and I spend a lot of time in Burlington, VT and there is a large fountain in the park where they hold the Farmers Market. You see lots of folks frolicking in the fountain. No one makes a big deal about it. People are enjoying themselves. I think we may need to just loosen up a bit. Kids and families are having fun. It's unfortunate that Do No Swimming signs will be posted. chlorinated but it's still a safety issue. So there you have it-
swimming in fountains is illegal.
