And I like how Amanda thinks. But then, I'm a huge fan of freerangekids.wordpress.com .

That was how we raised our children, back in the day, and things haven't changed all that much since then. If anything, crime is down, and crimes against children are down, too, since our children were children, back in the'70s and '80s.

Another idea is that we can just let children be children and play in the fountain ... like we did when we were kids.

I can understand why some parents think it is ok - many water features in cities are designed specifically to allow for cooling off grouchy hot children. Can't say that I won't be soakin' my dawgs (as in feet - not dogs) in the fountain as the temperature rises.

The best way to avoid "safety issues" is to not let the kids out of the house.

On Jun 22, 2011, at 10:52 AM, <datenben@cox.net> <datenben@cox.net> wrote:
The guy who answered was pretty nice he was like "I can't believe the stupidity of parents" He said they are in the process of having no swimming signs posted- which he said was a shame because they are ugly. I said I was concerned because I saw a dog in there and it's probably a health hazard because it isn't chlorinated. He said the water is chlorinated but it's still a safety issue. So there you have it- swimming in fountains is illegal.
