I was using Cox and switched to Verizon,,,,I do receive clearer
reception on the TV-but as for everything else I would say it is
comparable. What I find difficult is Verizon is offering their
services at a lower cost than what I am paying...but ONLY FOR NEW CUSTOMERS--I
guess loyalty means very little or nothing nowadays. I also found
out, if you are having any type of major problem---speak with no one but a
supervisor (My experience)~~~

class=gmail_quote>FIOS kept sending us advertising for their TV service
almost daily, and it
was pretty hard to get them to stop doing so.
They had real trouble
grasping the fact that we didn't want
anyone's TV connection.

That's exactly the problem; any savings one might have seen by
switching services are gobbled up by the fact that Verizon can only sell you a
plan with 100+ TV channels.

I've been using Cox cable Internet pretty
much since the year it started (1998...I think) and while I abhor monopolies I
see no reason to switch until Verizon or some other third party service offers
a REAL alternative, not just big talk and glossy ads. Verizon's prices are
almost exactly in line with Cox's and dubious promises of greater speed are
just not enough. I do web development/design and I've never observed any
problems with upload/download speeds.

There's competition...and then
there's just the job of making money. I see the latter here.

(Never
mind no TV, just look at their faces when you tell them you have VOIP phone or
use cell phones exclusively. This is what the record companies must have been
thinking when portable digital music devices hit the market...but why won't
you buy our nice packaged albums anymore?)

My
POV.

Emlyn

_______________________________________________
Summit
