He is proposing to charge $100 a year for a resident parking permit and there is an exemption for streets where 75% of the residents on that street do not want overnight parking.
There will NOT be a resident discount, meaning everyone who wants to park on the street regardless of where their car is registered will have to pay $100 a year for the permit.

Jess on

no. It
would be beneficial to us to be able to leave one car out of our
narrow driveway occasionally without it costing a ticket. HOWEVER,
this is a narrow street (12th) and I would hate for it to be parked
up on both sides all night most of the time. I am afraid it would be
a safety hazard if fire truck(s), ambulance(s), and/or police
vehicles needed to get through and over-parking, or sloppy parking
prevented it. We already see the constriction caused by parking from
the farmers' market - another issue.

I think the only way to do it would be to issue resident-only permits
- perhaps for a fee - and in limited numbers. Any vehicle without a
visible permit would be subject to the same rules now in effect. The
permit should be good for a year, and require re-application to
renew. There might also be a one-day or one-week
permit available
(for a fee) to allow out-of-state visitors the overnight priviledge.
I'm thinking $50 for the yearly permit, and maybe $20 for a weekly one.

On Sep 22, 2011, at 10:06 AM, Jesse C.
