Friends & Neighbors,<div><br></div><div>While there are cogent arguments from both camps, I have to say that quality of life for everyone should be first consideration, after all, why do most of us live where we do?</div>
<div><br></div><div>My personal feelings, and I hope I speak for the majority's interests, are that overnight parking will open a can of worms that will not allow us to go back again. Crime, noise, pollution, safety, overcrowding. I grew up in the house that was built by my great grandmother 95 yrs. ago. I seriously do not want to even consider moving out of this neighborhood because of any of the aforementioned plagues. Student housing? Check in on the people around PC. It's not a pretty blight (er, sight).</div>
<div><br></div><div>I feel for the people who don't have ample parking, but blanket overnight parking is NOT the answer. </div><div><br></div><div>Thanks for listening.</div><div>Paul</div><div><br></div><div>PS Suspicious behavior alert will be posted shortly under appropriate heading.<br>

If I were a landlord considering increasing the number of residents (students?) I could allow in my apartments, being able to buy overnight on-street parking spots for the extra cars is a lot cheaper than paving more of the yard, or building a garage. I would be able to rent what was a two-person (i.e. one or two cars) apartment, to 3 or 4 people. Apartments with more available parking rent for higher prices, and with overnight on-street available, I could fill 'em up full.<div>

Car alarms, from cars being bumped while parking, or being broken into, provide a frequent serenade. At night, if you're lucky, you might find a space blocks from where you live.<br>

I didn't really have an opinion either way on this as there are solid reasons supporting it, but Karen brings up a point that makes my skin crawl: car alarms. I can tolerate the semi-regular ambulance/police sirens up and down Hope, and the modified motorcycle pipes that are thankfully just a summer plague ("loud pipes save lives" my foot; how about starting with luminous jump suits), but as a composer noise is one topic that gets my attention.<br>
<br>
Granted, this is not NYC, but more cars on the street means more car alarms to trigger. There's no spinning that.<br>
<br>
In this one, single regard anyone would be right to label me a selfish, indignant darn NIMBY. Absolutely. I can put up with almost anything, anything except pointless, unnecessary, pervasive noise.<br>

Good point, Karen.<br>
