I didn't really have an opinion either way on this as there are solid reasons supporting it, but Karen brings up a point that makes my skin crawl: car alarms. I can tolerate the semi-regular ambulance/police sirens up and down Hope, and the modified motorcycle pipes that are thankfully just a summer plague ("loud pipes save lives" my foot; how about starting with luminous jump suits), but as a composer noise is one topic that gets my attention.
Granted, this is not NYC, but more cars on the street means more car alarms to trigger. There's no spinning that.

In this one, single regard anyone would be right to label me a selfish, indignant darn NIMBY. Absolutely. I can put up with almost anything, anything except pointless, unnecessary, pervasive noise.
Good point, Karen.
