stop, you know that one wall is made up of tiles that describe all types of<br>
events in Providence history. Probably not easily cleaned.<br>

This is the kind of thing that really degrades quality of life in the city.<br>

Does anyone have any recommendations for movers?<br>

I have a new refrigerator that won't fit up the stairs to my second floor<br>
kitchen. All my big furniture has come up and over the second floor porch,<br>
but this fridge is big/heavy and my friends and I can't do it ourselves.<br>
<br>
Suggestions?<br>

Michael, I had an anti-graffiti idea a while back that I never really ran with. ?My thought process went something like this:<br>
1) Catching a vandal in the act is next to impossible, and legislating against spraypaint (there are so many easy solutions here: why not require all spraypaint to be easily removed by Solvent X, which is unlikely to be applied by accident but easily available) is unwieldly, so the only answer is to remove graffiti immediately. ?The incentive to create graffiti vanishes if it doesn't last for more than a day.<br>
2) Within-a-day removal requires two things: a big cleaning crew, which costs money, and a rapid-reporting solution. ?The rapid-reporting solution (<a href="http://www.seeclickfix.com" target="_blank">www.seeclickfix.com</a>) already exists, is already used by the city, and is free.<br>
3) That only leaves the problem of paying for the big cleaning crew. ?My best idea is go to the real estate agencies: I'd think properties in a graffiti-free city would be worth more, thus increasing their commissions.<br>
Maybe there's a better funding source, or maybe someone would like to take up this banner?<br>

I'm unsure whether neighbors are aware of existing options for dealing with<br>

contains information about municipal legislation, as well as tips on<br>
reporting and organizing teams to facilitate removal.<br>

However, when you click the link regarding cleanups, the first sentence<br>
reads: "The City of Providence will assist communities in cleaning up<br>
graffiti in their neighborhood." Of course, the tagged bus stop is a<br>
stone's throw from RISD, where neighbors may have very different<br>
perceptions. (I attended high school in the Bronx more than 30 years ago,<br>
when works by graffiti artists such as Zephyr and Futura 2000 were being<br>
exhibited in galleries.)<br>

I am not pretending that this is graffiti of the highest order. However,<br>
concerned Summit residents will likely need to collaborate with friends in<br>
College Hill.<br>
