I also experienced this unfortunate situation yrs ago; had to go without heat & hot water for a few days during the winter. When the service person finally arrived to turn it back on, he made a sarcastic comment about it being 'bad for the pipes' to have the heat turned off. Bad for the pipes?! Try living (including showering & shaving) without heat and hot water for days in the winter. Not pleasant! <div>Last night Nat'l Grid Keyspan turned off our gas because we had a small
leak & needed a valve replaced. With some suggestions from the Summit
group, we found an excellent plumber who came today and replaced the
valve. </div>

<div>I called Keyspan at 1pm today and they said they'd send someone over
within a few hours -- by 8pm this evening at the latest -- turn turn our gas
back on.</div>
<div>I decided to give them a call again to see where they're at and when we
might expect someone (cause I know the squeaky wheel gets fixed) and they
informed me that NO ONE would be coming tonight, or tomorrow, or Sunday. They
said that they don't work weekends and that someone could probably come by on
MONDAY to turn our gas back on. They said it isn't an emergency
situation. </div></div>

<div>Do any of you have any thoughts on any recourse we might have? Keyspan
told us to "make other plans" as far as being in an unheated house. But this
just seems outrageous in January. And I know for a fact that they do work on
the weekends, cause it's the same people who turn the emergency leaks off who
come and turn them back on again. </div>
